  23.     Yeah, there are a bunch of gay bars in Providence and they
  24. really arent underground - the biggest concetration of them is on the 
  25. block between the Trinity Rep. and the Arcade. The best way to find where
  26. they are is go into one and pickup a copy of IN-magazine (a cool paper I 
  27. must ad! or 'The Guide' - they're you'll more than enough info on the
  28. club scene, events, activities etc.

  30.     I've been to a bunch in Providence with my circle of friends. In
  31. general I hate the bar scene - I only go when I'm staying at my folks house
  32. on holidays and want to go out with my circle of gay friends to hang and
  33. check things out. Here's a rundown of bars I've been to in Prov. R.I. - take
  34. my evaluation with a block of salt. If you wanna go - pick up the phone book
  35. or call info, call the club and ask where they are. Anyways, here goes:

  37. Gerardo's  :    neat layout ; two quiet bars - one where you have a bit of
  38.         privacy, another where you can hang with a crowd of people.
  39.         Big dance floor - pretty round mix, techno, pop etc.
  40.         Mixed crowd - straight,gay. Pretty tame, less of a meat market
  41.         mentality to it compared to others. Air hockey, coupla pool
  42.         tables.

  44. Mirabar       :    Small place, Dance floor - pit style with an area where you
  45.         can watch. All men ; mixed ages - twenties to guys in their
  46.         40's. Cool place - some meat-marketeers, some honestly friendly
  47.         people - little bullshit.

  49. Yukon       :    Nasty in my opinion. Dank cave - very meat market, aggressive
  50.         atmosphere. Guys in leather, older guys etc.

  52. Twelve Ceasars: Hefty cover, well decorated - well kept. They sport male
  53.             dancers hence the door charge. An OK place - but sometimes
  54.         people there just get too hot and bothered and come onto me.
  55.         Maybe you'll have better luck? Try it.

  57. Galaxy       :    Some people rank it with Yukon, but I like it. It's an open
  58.           place - attracts middle aged and younger guys. If you like
  59.         really masculine dudes and that type of environment (like I
  60.         do) - go there. Pool tables, great arrangement - friendly
  61.         people. Didnt see any bullshit going on when I went.

  63.     So, thats the run-down. Like I said, just an opinion - so dont 
  64. flame me out, OK?

  66.     Oh yeah - if you dont mind the travel, there's this REALLY COOL 
  67. place I hang out at while at home. It's called RCC (Randolph Country Club).
  68. It's in Randolph Mass right off Route 24. I like it because it attracts
  69. alot of cool people - male and female. It's a cool place to hang, no heavy
  70. bullshit or serious phonies - that's why I hang there. Give it a try.

  72.     Ya know - I stopped going to gay bars regularly awhile back because
  73. they just werent fun anymore. My idea of a good time is going out with 
  74. a bunch of guys and maybe even their girlfriends, pounding down a few
  75. pitchers of Sam Adams and watching the Bruins or Whalers play it out.. You
  76. just dont get that environment in gay bars. Oh well - just gotta do what you
  77. can do.
