- Are you sure about that? Back when I was a student, I was driving my '7X
- Plymouth Duster back from Joisey to Boston with a broken speedo and
- radio. I was happily listening to a portable radio with headphones and
- cruising behind anybody I could find to be sure I wasn't speeding too badly,
- when I (and the guy I was cruising behind) got pulled over in a radar trap
- just over the state line from CT to MA on Rt. 84 (jeez, it was probably
- still 86 back then). The exchange went something like this:
-
- Cop: "Do you know how fast you were going?"
- Me: "No, my speedometer is broken."
- Cop: "Come on, you must have some idea how fast you were going."
- Me: "No, I really have no idea."
- Cop: "Do you know it is illegal to listen to headphones while driving in MA?"
- Me: (looking worried) "No, I didn't know that!"
- Cop: "Is your radio broken too?"
- Me: "Yup."
-
- He gave me a warning.
