  12. Internet lovers: There was an informative article in Boston Globe (dec26'92) 
  13. on p.1 !! and p.14 re: Internet     ( "U.S. data highway gathers speed:
  14.                 ...Rules of road eyed for computer network") (Charles A. Radin)
  15. Informative especially for the Globe (or any newspaper at all), it painted
  16. the present Internet as the largest Existing Global Network. (more than U.S.!)
  17. It echoed that planners and users hope the govt (as it gets more involved)
  18. will keep/establish equal rights for all forms of traffic except illegal.

  20. Which hints at, but doesn't mention the current Acceptable Use Policy 
  21.      of the NSFnet backbone: (maybe i'm over-generalizing the AUP here:)
  22. Commercial usage is not allowed; research/edu is the only guilt-free usage.
  23. It did mention that the National Science Net (and the FBI :-) were 
  24. "concerned" about the basic unenforcability of actions and access.

  26. True, I (as NEARnet member) can get ~anywhere, but aren't corners emerging 
  27. WITH controlled routing...controlled by per-site (not per-content) setup?
  28. I heard one PIPEX customer regretting not paying extra for NSFnet access.

  30. I'm curious for stories about unexpected walls...most are probably to/from
  31. nes commercial-net customers.   ( p.s. Prodigy,MCImail are EXPECTED walls! )
