- The MBTA does have some kind of short-term pass; I don't know the details.
- I seem to remember their being three and seven day passes, but I'm not sure
- about that.

- I grew up in northern NJ, a short ride from Manhattan (Englewood, for those
- who know the area - you might have driven through on I-95, just past the
- George Washington Bridge). There is very convenient bus service from there
- to the Port Authority on 42nd St. Unfortunately, the fare is $2.85 each way,
- and the subway fare in New York is $1.25 per ride, with no passes or discount
- rates. This is compared to the $4 toll at the bridge. There is hence a
- savings of more than $4 in driving, if you happen to be going to an area in
- which you can park for free. The authorities there aren't doing a good job
- of encouraging car-owners to use the public transit system, and it's a shame.
