  32.    Reagan, using the bully pulpit of the White House, gets re-elected by
  33.    a small majority of those who bothered to vote (*), that's a mandate.

  36.    was such only by the electoral vote, not the popular vote.  The
  37.    last *real* landslide, IMHO, was Johnson over Goldwater in '64.

  39. Completely untrue.  Reagan got nearly 60% of the popular vote in 1984.
  40. In 1964 LBJ got a bit over 60%.  In terms of popular landslides the two
  41. elections were rather similar in support for the incumbent.
