  26. An interesting thought, but not original.  El Salvador at one point
  27. in the 1840s considered applying for admission to the USA.  Slave
  28. advocates vigorously supported the idea of acquiring many parts of
  29. Central America and Cuba as a method of extending slavery, and
  30. increasing the number of slave states.

  32. As it is, our Congress is already absurdly unrepresentational, with
  33. ~600,000 people per member of the House -- and this problem would
  34. get worse with more people.
