- Anna was on preventive antibiotics all of last fall, winter, and spring
- after having many ear infections the previous year. We knew it was
- helping because in 1991 she reached her insurance deductible of $250
- by the middle of February, while in 1992 she didn't reach her deductible
- until May. Fortunately, Anna is very good about taking medicine, so the
- daily dose of Amoxicilin was not a problem. She was able to take the
- chewable tablets so every night she asked for her "chew medicine".
-
- The down side is that this past fall she had a sinus infection for
- which the doctor prescribed Amoxicilin again. She developed a fever and
- hives which were attributed to an allergic reaction to the Amoxicilin,
- so she is now officially considered allergic to penicillin derivatives,
- which limits our treatment possibilities in the future. I'm not sure
- if the daily doses caused her subsequent sensitivity to the drug, but
- I strongly suspect it.

-
- Good luck with that. Jake was an early walker but Anna was content to
- just sit and watch her big brother so she crawled and walked late. Of
- course now she is a talker. She will say more in one hour than Jake
- will say in a whole week :-).
