- On the topic of prescribing which order in which to introduce foods, my
- pediatrician pointed out that different cultures recommend different
- orders. For example, in the US, people recommend stuff like squash,
- peas, and carrots for the first things after cereal. He said that in
- the Netherlands, they start with tomatoes. He figures this difference
- probably indicates that it just doesn't matter. (Within reason of
- course. We fed Julia, age eleven months, some pasta with raw garlic,
- olive oil and chopped tomato. She loved the flavor, but her stomach
- said no to the raw garlic. She gave us the most spectacular vomit in
- her whole little life. I felt very guilty.)
