  13. ARRRRRRRRGH! My trusted babysitter, who has been watching my daughter
  14. in her home along with her own daughter for a year while I worked,
  15. is moving out of the area, and I need new daycare arrangements.

  17. I am considering a live-in nanny to make my life as a single mother
  18. easier. Basically, I would like another adult around so that I
  19. can walk outside for a moment to do laundry, buy milk, get
  20. medication for my child or whatever without having to take my child
  21. every time.

  23. Could people who have had a live-in nanny e-mail with short
  24. descriptions of their experiences? I'm curious about the following:

  26. Is it appropriate to ask a live-in nanny to babysit beyond
  27. the workday hours? For example, could I go running in the morning,
  28. when my daughter is still asleep, knowing that the nanny would
  29. be there if she woke up, or would that be considered inappropriate?

  31. Are live-in nannies willing to babysit say, one evening a week? If so,
  32. do you pay them babysitter rates for those extra hours?

  34. Do nannies do any housework/cooking? If so, how much more do you
  35. pay them?

  37. How much do live-in nannies charge? I've heard there are "hidden costs"
  38. to having a live-in nanny. What are they?

  40. Is it realistic (or desirable) to hope for someone who will be 
  41. like a member of the family?
