- Teri,
-
- Sounds like the husband get a no win situation.
-
- Shouldn't you also watch the circumcision?
-
- They way some people talk about circumcision you would think that huge bulky
- knives are used without any safeguards.
-
- It's been a few years since I watched my oldest get circumsized. I was amazed
- at how fast it took place (less than five minutes).
-
- The first thing that happened (not counted in time) was that my son was given
- his bath (all the babies got baths each morning).
-
- Then he was placed in his bassenet in the nurses station along with the other
- two boys to be circumsized that day.
-
- From what I remember the actual circumcision took place like this.
-
- 1. Penis wiped with alcohol.
-
- 2. Numbing agent (lotion/gel) applied. (note: not all doctors use).
-
- 3. A two piece plastic ring was put on. One piece under the foreskin and one
- above (they "snapped" together).
-
- 4. A string was tied along the grove in the top ring.
-
- 5. The doctor cut along one side of the string in the grove. The the plastic
- ring under the foreskin insured that the doctor wouldn't accidently cut
- more then he was supposed to.
-
- Yes, my son did cry, but it wasn't a pain cry, it was more of why don't you leave
- me alone I want to go back to sleep cry. He started crying at the bath and stop
- a few minutes after the circumcision was completed (he went back to sleep).
-
- -Serena
-
- P.S. The ring fell off in about five days when it was completely healed.
