- My rabbi (Orthodox) is also a mohel (i.e. he does circumcisions).
- I've been to a few. The babies cry for only a minute or so.
- To desensitize the skin, he uses novacaine spray which sprays on cold.
- Also, during the procedure the baby is given a wine-soaked
- piece of cloth to suck on. (Wine may be the oldest anesthetic).
