  17. I assume you are talking about Family Day Care here (provider in her
  18. own home, max of about 6 children).  For my family daycare provider,
  19. here is what I do.
  20. - Any holidays that I have off with pay, she gets off with pay. (this
  21. therefore includes Christmas Day and New Year's Day.)
  22. - Any vacation days I take off, she gets paid.
  23. - Any days SHE takes off, when I would plan to be working, she does
  24. not get paid.

  26. Since I took all summer off for maternity leave :-), and my kids have
  27. been sick a lot this fall :-(, I have NO vacation time left.  THerefore,
  28. I am not taking any time off this season.  My provider wanted Christmas
  29. Eve and New Year's Eve off, so she is not being paid for those two days.
  30. (My husband is taking off with the kids, although if the daycare were
  31. open he would be working.  I'm at work on Christmas Eve, the only one
  32. in the building :-( ).
