- I have a 25-month-old son who still loves his bottle so I am in a similar
- position. All I can suggest is that you either 1) go 'cold turkey' and
- put up with all the crying and fussing for a few days (or weeks!) or 2)
- make efforts to cut down on use of the bottle and count your victories until
- you can finally eliminate all use of the bottle.
- My son also goes to daycare without a bottle. So I know he can go without
- a bottle for 8 hours at a time - now, to stretch that 8 into 24!
- One suggestion: substitute water for milk in the bottle, if you haven't
- made that switch already. My son hates drinking a bottle of water and will
- give up the bottle rather than drink water that way. If he wants milk, I can
- get it for him in a cup.
- Can't think of any suggestion for the pacifier, except to say that my
- daughter gave up the pacifier and went immediately to sucking on her thumb
- instead. At the age of 3.5 yrs, she can talk about how to stop sucking her
- thumb, so we discuss it and she has made some progress.
-
- Good Luck!
