- We had an annoying experience with doctor's completely ignoring my
- husband during my pregnancy. My obstetrician was fine with including my
- husband. But, another doctor referred to for an amniocentesis (after two
- high AFP test results) was just terrible. (By the way -- amnio came out
- fine, we have a healthy 8 month old boy, although born 5 weeks premature.)
-
- Anyway, we were discussing with this doctor whether or not to have the
- amniocentesis, and what the possible results of the test would be. The
- doctor (a woman) completely and totally ignored my husband. She spoke
- only to me. While it is true that I was the one who had the ultimate
- decision about whether or not to have the test, and what to do based on
- the results of the test, my husband was certainly going to be involved
- in the decision making. The simple fact that he was present should have
- been a clue that this was the case.
-
- So, what can one do about this? I can of course not go back to this
- doctor, but then again, I won't have the need to again, I hope. At
- the time I had too much on my mind to say anything to the doctor.
