- A big problem with saying this and only this is parents end up teaching
- their children that they're doing something wrong. Masturbation or
- genital exploration isn't incorrect behaviour, and very few posts on
- this thread stress this.

- I would suggest teaching your children WHY it's not acceptable for
- people to do this in public (mainly that other people aren't that
- comfortable with seeing others touching their genitals and that this is
- termed a bad thing). Simply telling them not to do something or to do
- something else instead while not giving a reason for the change of
- action can easily lead children to have more unanswered questions than
- they started with.

- Teaching your children to the proper terminology 'penis', 'vagina',
- 'scrotum', 'clitoris' and so on, instead of "down there" is another
- step toward letting your children know that their genitalia isn't
- inherently incorrect, bad, sinful or mysterious.
