  19. A big problem with saying this and only this is parents end up teaching  
  20. their children that they're doing something wrong.  Masturbation or  
  21. genital exploration isn't incorrect behaviour, and very few posts on  
  22. this thread stress this.

  24. I would suggest teaching your children WHY it's not acceptable for  
  25. people to do this in public (mainly that other people aren't that  
  26. comfortable with seeing others touching their genitals and that this is  
  27. termed a bad thing).  Simply telling them not to do something or to do  
  28. something else instead while not giving a reason for the change of  
  29. action can easily lead children to have more unanswered questions than  
  30. they started with.

  32. Teaching your children to the proper terminology 'penis', 'vagina',  
  33. 'scrotum', 'clitoris' and so on, instead of "down there" is another  
  34. step toward letting your children know that their genitalia isn't  
  35. inherently incorrect, bad, sinful or mysterious.
