  11. Hey!  I am not entirely against studies.  But tell me, which study do 
  12. I adopt.  My son is 7.  In the short 8 years since I conceived, the
  13. studies have widely varied on a number of issues that were germane 
  14. to Jeremy's health and well-being.

  16. Well-meaning medical advice changed based on which pediatrician I 
  17. saw in the group.  The advice diverged even more when I consulted
  18. specialists.

  20. This time last year, I was meeting with psychologists, pediatricians,
  21. educators, ear-nose-throat specialists and other experts.  My son 
  22. was diagnosed as ADD, ADHD, emotionally immature, learning disabled,
  23. exceptionally intelligent, allergic, stressed, etc., etc., etc., etc.

  25. And all of these were based on a study somewhere.

  27. My son's major complaint was he didn't like school.  So after weighing
  28. the advice, looking at options, discussing it on the net, I switched
  29. him to another school.

  31. My attention deficit, emotionally immature, learning disabled but
  32. exceptionally intelligent and allergic stressed out child came 
  33. home an attentive, mature, learning and happy to be so child who 
  34. occasionally needs some Dimetap after his first couple of days in 
  35. a new school.

  37. A study is only as good as the methodology used.  Studies are very
  38. expensive to conduct.  The researcher's bias must be considered.
  39. The bias of the entity providing the money must be considered.
  40. The bias of the person reporting the study must be considered.
  41.  
  42. There is a statistic somewhere that will support just about any
  43. statement.
