- The topic of discount brokers arises frequently in misc.invest, and
- unfortunately E-Trade is omitted from the FAQ.
-
- I like E-Trade a lot. I inquired with several discount brokers prior
- to opening an account with them. The promotional literature E-Trade mailed
- to me was complete and sufficient for me to make a decision, which is more
- than I can say for some of the other discount brokers I contacted.
-
- Their user interface for PC's and touch-tone phones is adequate. Their
- commissions are low. That's all I care about.
-
- Some brokers have a $25 minimum commission, which is $10 less than E-Trade's
- $35 minimum.
-
- I've talked to E-Trade brokers on the phone twice, and in both cases
- they had a professional demeanor.
-
- I recommend you call E-Trade. They will mail you sufficient promotional
- literature for you to make a decision. Their 800 number is in Barron's
- and other financial papers.
