- True. Here is a breakdown from the prospectus I picked up:
-
- Portfolio Concentrations--
-
- Developing Communications
- Telephone Services 27.1 %
- Cellular 26.6
- Comm Eqpt 16.5
- Comm Serv & softw. 4.4
- Broadcasting 2.3
- Computer & Off.eqpt 1.4
- Chemicals & Plastic 0.9
-
-
- and Telecommunications--
- Telephone Services 62.5%
- Cellular 16.9
- Comm Eqpt 5.2
- Comp Serv & Softw. 3.9
- Broadcasting 2.1
-
-
- If there is a major acceleration of telecommunications technology in the
- coming decade (interactive tv, common use of cellular phones, common use
- of info networks, etc), it would seem that the above funds would benefit
- greatly. Clinton/GORE certainly lends impetus to this development. It seems
- that the U.S. is poised to make a radical shift to these technologies in the
- next few years.
-
- Question: Will the major telecom companies benefit the most? Or will anti-
- monopoly laws restrict these companies from cashing in? Doesn't AT&T have
- major patents on teleconferencing?
-
- Which above Fidelity fund is best to cover the future developments in these
- technologies. Major telecoms may very well be in the best position to benefit
- barring unfriendly Supreme Court rulings?!
