- Actually, I think it would be rather interesting to get a futures market
- together that would have information on some interesting issues like
- the viability of cold-fusion and the cost of launching a pound to orbit
- in 30 years, and issues like demographics(i.e. the age composition of the
- US in 20 years). The prices of commodities are an important issue,
- but I can imagine that folks might want to hedge on other, important
- issues. I can also imagine these as being useful techniques for funding
- new technologies(for example, a DRAM futures market would allow folks to
- fund RAM factories by selling RAM that hasn't been produced yet).
