- " MORE INFORMATION REGARDING THE MOTORCYCLES "DNEPR-11/16"... "

- 1. Both motorcycles DNEPR-11 and DNEPR-16 have the same engine, rear wheel
- cardan drive, 4 forward speeds one reverse.
- 2. The difference between two base models of motorcycles with sidecar DNEPR-11
- & 16 is that DNEPR-16 has a sidecar wheel drive, owing to this its cross-
- country capability is higher and speed is somewhat lower. The engine is
- produced for low-octan A-76 and high-octane A-93 petrol. Now there is new
- experimental engine with Maximum power (HP) 50.
- 3. There are two conveyers at at the plant, DNEPR-11 & 16 are assembled at
- both of them, but one conveyer (70000 - 100000 a year) works for the Soviet
- market and at and at the second (3000 a year) DNEPR-11/16 are assembled
- specially for export to the Western countries.
- The exported motorcycles differ from the "Soviet" ones in the following:
- - there is a special antirust coating
- - chromium-plated wheels and visible parts
- - high quality of engine assemblage from specially selected parts
- - motorcycles are painted with Finnish, not Soviet paint
- - motorcycles are packed into special cotainers - wooden cases, gross weight
- of a packed motorcycle is 620 kg (DNEPR-16) & 600 kg (DNEPR-11), net weight
- 355 - 330 kg. The size of the case: 228cm x 172cm x 110cm, V=4,255 m3.

- SHORTCOMINGS OF MOTORCYCLES
- - A basic shortcoming of motorcycles (both exported and Soviet) is a not
- high guality of carburettors (they are made in Russian). When they are
- replaced with BING or MENON carburettors fuel consumption per 100 km
- very decreases.
- - There is no electronic ignition system.
- the foreign buying companies (GERMANY, GREAT BTITAIN,DENMARK, ...), if
- necessary, make replacement of carburettors themselves, change the
- colouring at the desire of buyers.

- THERE ARE NO BANS OR RESTRICTIONS ON EXPORT, CUSTOM DUTY is 0,05 % of
- the contract value in USD and 0,1 % in Ukranian Roubles when exporting
- from Ukraine.

- TECHNICAL SUPPORT
- The guaranteed delivery of spare parts, help in repair and organizing
- service centres etc. may be stipulated when concluding a contract.
- There is no problem. The guarantee is valid for 6 months. The Guarantee
- set of parts is delivered by the plant free of charge.

- PRICES (in USD)
- The prices, given in my first letter, concerned the export version of
- motorcycles. Dnepr-11:1650 USD, DNEPR-16: 1850 USD.
- For the Soviet version of motorcycles the price may be; Dnepr-11 - 700 USD
- DNEPR-16 - 800 USD. They are not delivered to the market of the West.
- As a rule there is no wholesale discount, but discount of 5% is possible
- if the buyer undertakes a guarantee engagements - all buyers gone on it.

- DELIVERY
- The plant supplies motorcycles to foreign companies on terms "EX WORKS".
- But motorcycles can also be transported to the ports of ODESSA, ILYICHEVSK
- (the BLACK SEA), or LENINGRAD (the BALTIC SEA) and there loaded on to the ship.
- The payment for carriage by rail to the port and load on to the ship is not
- great, e.g. now the payment for carriage by rail to the port of LENINGRAD
- evaluated in USD near 25 for 1 motorcycle, ODESSA USD 20 ditto.
- In a sea 40' container there is room for 12 motorcycles placed in 2 tiers.
- 1. It is possible to deliever motorcycles to the U.S.A. from exUSSR by
- vessels, line Sankt-Peterburg(exLENINGRAD) - Canada, through the Balt-Canada
- company.
- 2. But the best and cheapest way is to apply to your carriers, whose ships
- call at the ports of Ukraine (Odessa, Ilyichevsk).
- 3. Delivery from Ukraine to Hamburg (Germany).
- Cost of delivery of 12 motorcycles from Ukraine by motor transport is about
- 5.000 DM. Further the carriage is by sea on line HAMBURG - the U.S.A.
- American importers used 2 and 3 ways.

- U.S. MARKET
- In 1992 the plant has concluded three contracts (two of them in November)
- for delivery of motorcycles DNEPR-11/16 to the U.S.A. But the quantities
- are small, 6 to 30 pcs. One of the companies tries to get an exclusive
- right on the U.S. market (under contract 5000 pcs) but for the present
- without success.

- In our opinion the motorcycles DNEPR is not last word in motorcycle construc-
- tion but have great endurance and reability, have the chances on the markets
- Central and Latin America, Africa, Near East, and perhaps, of the central
- states of the U.S.A. (for example, technical museums, clubs, - I joke)
