  13. Well, our last firm buyer had a hardware failure and no longer
  14. has the spare cash for this fine machine. So I'm reposting, in
  15. the hopes that someone will come and take it away.

  17. We have an IRIS 1200, with 1.75 Meg. This was a very nice graphics engine
  18. for its day (circa 1984) with a big, gorgeous color screen (> 20").

  20. Unfortunately, it got watered in a lab accident. I've tried it out since,
  21. and we had it professionally cleaned, but we accepted insurance money for it
  22. rather than going through the grief to put it back on our net.

  24. The only bugs are that the mouse is broken (I have the mouse part number
  25. from SGI), and that we never did get it back on the Ethernet. We did upload
  26. the flight simulator via a terminal line, and it's gorgeous. The machine is
  27. also big:  the CPU is the size of two small file cabinets, and the monitor
  28. is another file cabinet sized box that can sit on top.

  30. SGI tells me that they do have an OS that will provide NFS access for this
  31. machine, for those of you who might want to use it as a graphics engine and
  32. have SGI site licenses.  The last firm offer we had was $150, and he would
  33. come here and get it.  (Our lab is in Boston, next to the Charles St. T
  34. stop).  As I said, that offer fell through, so similar offers or better ones
  35. will be accepted.  The sooner we ship it out, the better: we could use the
  36. space.
