This is a little hard to explain... you can select which pair of strings go to either the left or right side.
In the first mode, pairs 1, 2, and 3 go to the left and 4, 5, and 6 go to the right.
In the second mode, pairs 1, 3, and 5 go to the left, and 2, 4, and 6 go to the right.
There is also a mixer switch to blend them across the stereo field, so rather than each group being assigned exclusively to each side, they can be spread out for some really cool effects.
For example, with no mixing it may look something like this:
left --=> 123 456 <=-- right

But WITH mixing, effects like this can be achieved:
left --=> 1 2 3 4 5 6 <=-- right
