  31. Minneapolis Police and Fire share an MDT system, although they use the
  32. MDT's differently.
  33.  
  34. For the fire department, all fire rigs have 2-line status terminals, and
  35. firefighters report their status directly to CAD with the status buttons.
  36. When sent on a run, the MDT receives the address and type of call.
  37. Firefighters then notify CAD when the go enroute, arrive, clear, etc.

  39. In each fire station is a full MDT, which is wired up to the house lights
  40. and PA.  Our CAD system will automatically alert the appropriate stations
  41. when rigs are dispatched (only if the rigs are in the house).  CAD then
  42. sends full run information to the MDT for reference when the firefighters
  43. return to their stations.

  45. (As a note, Minneapolis uses ElectroComm Automation MDT's.  They are nice.)
