- Minneapolis Police and Fire share an MDT system, although they use the
- MDT's differently.
-
- For the fire department, all fire rigs have 2-line status terminals, and
- firefighters report their status directly to CAD with the status buttons.
- When sent on a run, the MDT receives the address and type of call.
- Firefighters then notify CAD when the go enroute, arrive, clear, etc.
-
- In each fire station is a full MDT, which is wired up to the house lights
- and PA. Our CAD system will automatically alert the appropriate stations
- when rigs are dispatched (only if the rigs are in the house). CAD then
- sends full run information to the MDT for reference when the firefighters
- return to their stations.
-
- (As a note, Minneapolis uses ElectroComm Automation MDT's. They are nice.)
