  10. Rob: We don't use headsets in our fire apparatus, but we do use them in
  11. our command (communications) vans.  These vans handle on scene
  12. communications, and coordinate with the fire alarm office, on still and
  13. box, or greater, fires.  We had to go to headsets to eliminate the echo
  14. we were getting, the vans are built light an echo chamber inside, and
  15. to
  16. elminate confusion when all the radio consoles are in use.  We like the
  17. results so much that we are now installing headsets on the cellular
  18. telephones in the vans.  We chose David Clark at the recomendation from
  19. our Motorola service rep.  They  are expensive, but durable.  We did
  20. have a lot of trouble getting the intercom function to work.  And now
  21. that it does work most people don't use it.
