- In addition to the other comments, if you've got enough down payment
- cash (20-25%) handy, are willing to go an extra point (maybe) on closing
- and have a good credit history you can avoid a lot of the qualification
- aggravation by going with an unverified income mortgage. Since I'm
- self-employed and unincorporated and didn't want to pay to have a
- profit/loss statement done that's the route I took and it was mostly
- painless. The mortgage company (Prudential) only needed three months
- of bank statements, mutual fund statements and a report from my
- landlord. I would advise using an experienced mortgage broker if you
- go this route however. After all the horror stories I'd heard about
- securing a mortgage I was surprised how quick and easy it went.
