  14. A friend tells me that she used the services of a private
  15. investigator to locate a boyfriend from high school days (25
  16. years ago), mainly out of curiosity as to what had become of
  17. him. She paid the PI something around $150-$200 for this, as I
  18. recall, contingent on success in the search.

  20. The PI was able to find the former flame within a day using his
  21. databases, the nature of which he wouldn't disclose to her. He
  22. did say that he had worked for the Federal government in the
  23. past.

  25. How did he do it? It would seem that he would have to have
  26. access to some union of all American telephone directories.
