  18. rather than thinking of the fee for the card, consider that, for
  19. $60/year, you are buying many thousands of miles.  in programs where
  20. you are permitted to buy mileage (to top off your account so you can
  21. claim an award), you have to pay lots more than $60 ... if you charge
  22. $5,000/year, your sixty dollar fee is buying you the same mileage 
  23. that you would get if you had travelled cross-country round trip (the
  24. bargain basement fares for such a trip look something like $348).

  26. in short: if you make several thousand dollars in charges each year
  27. and you pay your bill in full each time, the $60 fee isn't necessarily
  28. a bad deal.
