  30. Just last weekend my husband read an article to me (from
  31. the Indianapolis Star) about torn dollar bills.  The 
  32. article reported that a ( > 1/2 intact) bill could be exchanged
  33. at a bank for a whole one.  If you have proof that the
  34. bill was destroyed (such as in a fire) and that < 1/2
  35. remains, you may also redeem the bill.  Hope that helps.
