- Actually, I believe this happend to me once. I inherited some oil
- property in my folks estate, although by the time I got it, it's been
- split so many ways that I only get about $35 a year from it. Nontheless,
- Midland Co. Texas sends me a tax bill on it every year for $.15 (not
- a typo - that's 15 CENTS). One time I wrote 'em a check and put in
- the memo line "DUMB 1987 TAXES" - the check was never cashed (and
- it never cleared). I'm pretty sure someone in the tax office just
- threw it in the trash.

- So, what I do now is to make 'em send me three notices (original plus
- two past due) so they get to spend about a buck to get my $.15.

- If it was me, I think I'd forgive any taxes less than $1. But then,
- I'm not a bureaucracy...
