  19.     The media get most of their news from "official," "expert," 
  20.     corporate-owned, and other established and generally conservative 
  21.     sources -- mainly the public information offices of corporations and 
  22.     government these sources are considered respectable and reliable, and 
  23.     they also can most easily afford to pour out new to the media, without 
  24.     charge or much effort on the  media' part.

  26.     In 1975, a Senate intelligence committee found that the CIA owned 
  27.     outright more than 200 wire services, newspapers, magazine, and book 
  28.     publishing complexes and subsidized many more..

  30.     "a study of some 2,500 guest on the ABC "Nightline" news program
  31.     ..showed officials predominating and unofficial and dissenting
  32.     groups virtually absent -- including labor, consumer, and
  33.     environmental advocates; peace activists; the working class; the

  35.     U.S. foreign policy," the show's host said, "you don't bring on
  36.     the opponents of U.S. foreign policy and let them speak, their
  37.     mind, " he said displaying his keen understanding of democracy the
  38.     role of the Free Press, "what you do is bring on the architects of
  39.     US foreign policy and hold them to account" (Spoken like a
  40.     _Pravda_ editor) in the sense that the mass media have been
  41.     "holding them to account" year after year...
