- hey! A greeting from Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Bonners Ferry is a town
- in northern Idaho of about 4000. I'm a junior in high school here.
- My dad is a logger. Most of the community here is supported by
- timber dollars. Living in Northern Idaho for all of my life, it has
- been a common sight to see such wildlife as deer, elk, moose, and
- bear. Bears have usually not been a problem, however in recent
- years, the problem bears from the National parks such as
- Yellowstone, and Yosemite, have been tranquilized and transported
- up to the Selkirks, which is the area where we live. As I said
- bears have not been a problem but when you take bears who are used
- to people and transport them, it makes for trouble. To complicate
- things, the most common bear transported is the grizzly bear, and
- laws protect them so heavily that some people won't shoot them even
- if there lives may be in danger for the fear of the strict laws.
- Northern Idaho is on the expansion pretty heavily. We get alot of
- granola eating hippies who come from California as well as other
- places to be one with themselves and live off the land. Most of
- these people don't know how to act around the wildlife and get
- themselves in trouble. Now I'm no expert on this subject, and I'm
- curious to hear other peoples replies so please do so.
