  11. In New Zealand, all schools go on holiday from just before Christmas
  12. until the first week of February.

  14. So if you have pen-pals in Auckland or Christchurch or Dunedin, don't
  15. feel upset if they are not sending you any messages during January.

  17. They are probably off to the beach, enjoying a hot summer.
  18. Christmas day was lovely and sunny, and my children have been 
  19. having a good time swimming in the sea.  We are about to go 
  20. off on our holidays for two weeks in January, about 300 miles
  21. South of where we live.
