  11. 'Scuse me for jumping in here, but I HAVE read the charges -- the

  13. actual indictment, not what that press hound AG says is in the charges. 
  14. So far, the indictment fails to state that a crime occurred except 
  15. in conclusionary language.  The indictment fails to say from whom 
  16. or where the money was supposedly stolen, when it was supposedly 
  17. stolen, and how it was supposedly stolen.  At most, the attorney 
  18. general says there is money from some unexplicable source.  Now, 
  19. if the money was indeed the property of a nonprofit corporation, 
  20. there may be a problem.  If, on the other hand, the money was merely 
  21. excess campaign contributions, there is NOTHING illegal about using 
  22. those funds.  In fact, the law states that such money  may be used 
  23. "for any lawful purpose."  The legislators, who passed this law, 
  24.  
  25. have been doing it for years.  What is notably absent from the 
  26. indictment is any mention of preaching or state airplanes, which 
  27. was supposed to be the subject matter of the ludicrously expensive, 
  28. all encompassing, time consuming grand jury probe.  To me, the 
  29. indictment looks like a desparate attempt for the AG to justify his 
  30. actions in convening the grand jury in the first place.  Using campaign 
  31. contributions for personal use may not be the most popular course 
  32. of action a public figure can take, but it is not a crime.
  33.     Right now, the governor is still the governor.  He is a simple 
  34.  
  35. man from a relatively poor background.  This present prosecution 
  36. is very hurtful to him and his family, and it is DEFINITELY politically 
  37. motivated.  If you believe in the liberty that distinguishes this 
  38. country from so many others, you will respect the cornerstone of 
  39. our justice system that says a person is INNOCENT, totally and 
  40. completely, until PROVEN, not just accused of being, guilty.  The 
  41. governor's family needs our support now, not speculation and innuendo 
  42. from inaccurate press accounts.
