- Some of the fidonet, gorups have new software, which filters the routing
- garbage out of Internet messages. It might help. It is my understanding
- that the gating of Fido with hsv.general, was to help the common groups
- of communication that should really exist in the hunstville community.
-
- The reason that people will cross-post is that the message will show up
- one time on the usenet side. If it is posted to ingr.general, and hsv.
- general then when I read the message, the software will note that I have
- read the message in one group, and not force me to read again in the other
- group. Besides the group identifier, there is also a distribution attribute,
- if the local gateing software were to verify that the distribution attribute
- were to be set to _hsv_, then the netherlands, the soviet union <sic> would
- not be inudatedate with yokels yammers about why some idiots may/may not
- have be resposible for his actions.
-
- Courtesty on the fidonet side would also be appreciated.
-
- Quoting parts of messages is considered courtesy, it allows some
- context for understanding the intent of the response.
-
- if you want to cut a connection, cut the flame connection or
- better yet rename the group to hsv.whine. ;-) would it help if I reposted
- portions of alt.flame and alt.whine so that you'all have something
- to shoot for?
-
- Perhaps some awarness of the problems of both sides is in order:
- Fidonet software has problems with more than about 17 lines of 40 character
- messages linees. Usenet messages sometimes execeed 20 to 30 screens of
- information.
-
- Perhaps the _real_ solutions is to make hsv.general and the other
- hsv groups, become usenet moderated groups..

-
- Early Usenet software, also had problems in this area, something on the
- order that every message could at most be 40% quoted text.
