- that's not what i meant by virtual newsgroup (though i can see how in
- the context of the previous article it seemed that way). just to keep
- things simple, let's call your idea a "private hierarchy". i agree
- with your complaints about private hierarchies. i find vm and dired
- together (with a flattened private hierarchy) to be pretty good, but
- there are features that the combination lacks.

- initiate the equivalent of a recursive grep on my hierarchy and bring
- up a vm folder that contains all (and only) the saved articles that
- contain that search string in the directory. (kyle jones are you
- reading this?) the vm virtual folder mechanism combined with find and
- xargs and grep might work to do this.

- newsgroups last night, but i think the post never got out :-(. i'll
- post it again right now. the subject line will be "splitting
- newsgroups".
