- In GNU Emacs 18.57.2 on a Sun Sparc SLC running 4.1.1 BSD.
-
- In Emacs I frequently visit files with full path names exceeding 38
- chars, which means truncation of the last (and most interresting) part of
- the filename when the window has the 80 chars "standard" width, when doing
- C-x C-b (list-buffers) to find out the buffer to file name correspondence.
-
- I would prefer the truncation being done on the "root side" of the path
- name. It would also help to keep the path name short (and more readable)
- if the absolute path to my homedir was replaced with the "~" sign.
-
- Im aware of the possibility to do scroll-left to view the missing part, or increasing
- the window width, though I find neither of them to be a good work around.
