  13. In GNU Emacs 18.57.2 on a Sun Sparc SLC running 4.1.1 BSD.

  15. In Emacs I frequently visit files with full path names exceeding 38
  16. chars, which means truncation of the last (and most interresting) part of
  17. the filename when the window has the 80 chars "standard" width, when doing 
  18. C-x C-b (list-buffers) to find out the buffer to file name correspondence.

  20. I would prefer the truncation being done on the "root side" of the path
  21. name.  It would also help to keep the path name short (and more readable)
  22. if the absolute path to my homedir was replaced with the "~" sign.

  24. Im aware of the possibility to do scroll-left to view the missing part, or increasing
  25. the window width, though I find neither of them to be a good work around.
