- How do I get emacs under X11R5 to display high ascii chars from a
- font? I got a bunch of mixed cyrillic/latin files that use 8-bit
- encoding, and also a variety of fonts that supposedly work with these.
- However, when I use M-x x-set-font to set my font to any of these, the
- appearance of the characters changes (so the font is clearly being
- used) but the things outside the 7-bit ascii range still display as
- control chars or as \nnn (octal). Am I doing something wrong? Or do I
- have the wrong fonts? I tried with emacs 18.58.3 as well as with the
- older 18.54.8, and the newer mule9.5.1 (based on emacs 18.58.5), but
- it makes no difference. The fonts I tried were koi8x13 and other
- sizes, as well as -etl-fixed-medium-r-normal--0-0-75-75-c-0-iso8859-5
- and other sizes. Thanks in advance,
-
