  20. We have troubles running XDM under Solaris 2.X. 
  21. It occurs to me if SUN got rid of the XDMCP protocol when porting
  22. XDM to SOLARIS 2.X, because XDM only works on an
  23. SUN station with an attached monitor. Even when this
  24. works, it looks like XDM is using the old setup for 
  25. the passwords file. XDM looks for a password in the password
  26. file which is changed under Solaris 2.X to the
  27. shadow file.

  29. Because we are a site which have X-terminals attached to a
  30. SUN sparcstation/server we want to use XDM as it does
  31. on many other platforms (for example DELL and even SUNs running
  32. the old 4.1.X version of the operating system).

  34. We are now using an old XDM program which came with 
  35. an Tektronix X-terminal. For the time being this is ok, but
  36. because this version works also with the old-style passwd
  37. file this is not the recommended solution for the problem.
  38. SUN won't help us.

  40. Has somebody ported a working XDM to the Solaris 2.X platform?
