- Hi,
-
- We have troubles running XDM under Solaris 2.X.
- It occurs to me if SUN got rid of the XDMCP protocol when porting
- XDM to SOLARIS 2.X, because XDM only works on an
- SUN station with an attached monitor. Even when this
- works, it looks like XDM is using the old setup for
- the passwords file. XDM looks for a password in the password
- file which is changed under Solaris 2.X to the
- shadow file.
-
- Because we are a site which have X-terminals attached to a
- SUN sparcstation/server we want to use XDM as it does
- on many other platforms (for example DELL and even SUNs running
- the old 4.1.X version of the operating system).
-
- We are now using an old XDM program which came with
- an Tektronix X-terminal. For the time being this is ok, but
- because this version works also with the old-style passwd
- file this is not the recommended solution for the problem.
- SUN won't help us.
-
- Has somebody ported a working XDM to the Solaris 2.X platform?
-
- If so, please contact me using email.
-
- Thanks in advance,
-
- Geert (geert@ccsds.ahold.nl)
