  17. Apologies to those of you who have seen this before ; I originally sent this
  18. question to the ximage list, and the response was almost total silence. Alan
  19. Mazer at JPL pointed me at Joseph Mauro at Digital, Merrimack, as the author of
  20. a document proposing an image extension written some four years ago, but he
  21. didn't have an email address for him. The telephone number he gave appears to
  22. connect me to something, but the voice at the far end of it is so faint I can't
  23. tell what they are saying :-(.

  25. If Joseph Mauro is still out there, or if anyone has an email address for him,
  26. I'd be grateful if they could get in touch. Otherwise, if you are able
  27. to answer any of my questions below on image extensions to X, I'd also
  28. be grateful.

  32. I joined this list a few weeks ago partly because I have a particular
  33. interest in imaging, and also because I am trying to gather information
  34. on X extensions in general for a presentation I am due to give in
  35. a couple of weeks. I've managed to gather a good deal of information
  36. on Consortium standard extensions, of course, and on other proprietary
  37. and demonstration-type extensions, but on imaging I've drawn a blank.

  41. What is the status of the image extension which I thought I had heard
  42. of a year or two back ?
  43. Is it still in development ?
  44. Is there only one ?
  45. What does the extension add to X ?
  46. Is there any information available via FTP on this area ?

  48. I realise that's a lot of questions, and I don't expect full answers,
  49. but any information will be appreciated. I will summarise to the list
  50. before the New Year, so answers can be sent to me via email (see signature
