- My grep on the FAQs for "patch" didn't reveal anything interesting, so
- I'm wondering: Given that you don't have source for the version of X
- that is on a particular machine (you're running vendor code or you
- simply decided keeping megs of source online wasn't worth it), how do
- you determine what patchlevel is running? Even with the source, I
- don't see any file being updated with the information other than
- "bug-report", which doesn't get installed as part of the standard X
- distribution as far as I can tell. I find this a bit humorous 'cause,
- if you look at the "patch" program shipped with the R5 distribution,
- you get a message to the effect that you can "save people a lot of
- grief by keeping a patchlevel.h file". :)
