  30. Roy, the Rodime 3259T is actually a useable drive BUT...
  31. Rodime is no longer being distributed in the United States.
  32. Any of their drives you find now are either used, refurbed, or
  33. old old stock. We have 5 of these 3259T drives in our DN2500
  34. nodes here at my Paramax installation. While Rodime was still in
  35. U.S. business, I talked to a couple people there and was directed
  36. for repair to their "official" U.S. appointed repair depot.

  49. We have had mediocre luck with our Rodimes. They are a very
  50. temperamental drive. Sensitive to shock. Slow to spin up.

  52. Now... the above Computer Peripheral Repair informs me that
  53. they can no longer replace the HDA if you have flawed media.
  54. The drive is obsolete. They *can* however replace/repair the
  55. circuit board for $190.00. If you are unsure if it is the 
  56. circuit boards or the HDA that is "bad", they will diagnose the
  57. problem for $25 (deducted from your circuit board repair).

  59. Anyway... from my standpoint... if you got a great deal on
  60. the Rodimes and could consider them "expendable and disposable",
  61. go for it... but if you will be worried about the security of the
  62. data on the drive... or want long term repairability...
  63. forget the Rodime's and get the Maxtor LXT-200S (about 190 Meg) 
  64. or the LXT-213SY (low power consumption, about 210 Meg). 
  65. We have used both of these drives as replacements and are quite
  66. pleased with their performance for fairly cheap drives. No 
  67. failure from either model as of yet.
