- * The subject gives you the general idea. I'm using an Orchid Prodesigner
- * IIs under Xfree86. The clocks are as follows:
- *
- * Clocks 25 28 32 36 40 45 80 65 13 14 16 18 20 22 0 0
- *
- * For #1 I tried the following timings:
- * "1024x768v" 80 1024 1032 1152 1384 768 784 787 823
- * These give me 58 KHz Horizontal, and 70 Hz vertical which are well
- * within the specs of my monitor (a MAG MX15F).
- *
- * For #2 I tried these:
- * "1152x900" 80 1152 1160 1376 1548 900 920 940 948
- *
- * Both modes produced snow on the screen in addition to the regular
- * picture, which looked fine otherwise. At first, I was going to
- * return the hardware as defective, but I have been able to achieve
- * goal #1 under MS-DOS using the drivers supplied by Orchid, so I
- * must be doing something wrong to be getting that snow.

- Try the 65-MHz dot clock to get about a 65-Hz refresh rate; my ET4000 book
- says that's the upper limit--you may or may not have a chip that exceeds
- this spec. I can't see any flicker even at 60 Hz in 1024x768 (with some
- tweaking of the sync and blank intervals) on a 14" Sampo AlphaScan+, and
- I'm very picky. I used to get a severe headache with 1152x900 at 62 MHz
- in non-interlaced mode. You might like to try the 65-MHz (a rough
- calculation says you need a 60-MHz dot clock--but double check on this)
- dot clock to see if you can get the interlaced mode working. (I don't
- know why people claim they get a headache with it--I don't, and the
- picture looks very steady, except for some annoying moire pattern with
- the root weave.)
