- I have now set something like this up, such that "cm" is an alias
- to "rsh fileserver cm -display `hostname`$DISPLAY", and this does seem to work
- fine, except that an xhost +/xhost - has to be part of the alias as well.
- This seems a little kludgy, so I was wondering about your first idea:
-
- How would you specify "name@localhost" where localhost is the fileserver?
-
- :
- : The way we use cm here across the network is to have the rpc.cmsd process
- : running on one server (does not need to run on clients) and then always
- : accessing user@server for cm data. When a user starts up cm for the first
- : time it runs a script of mine to create permissions that allow user at any
- : host to create, delete appointments etc.
- :
- : [...]
-
- Again, how would "user@server" be accessed without actually rsh'ing over
- to the server?
-
- Also, I've tried killing the rpc.cmsd process, but the next time that
- cm is invoked, instead of trying to do something with the server, it
- just restarts a new rpc.cmsd process.
-

- : Also you might find it useful to read SunExpert magazine (Oct/nov? I think)
- : which has an article on setting up the calendar manager for network use and
- : for other resources.
-
- Unfortunately, I didn't even know of this magazine, so I'll now try to
- subscribe to it. Thanks.
