  42. Interesting.... I *am* using v.42bis modems that can do 14.4K without
  43. compression, if I turn on the compression and error correction my ping
  44. times go up and my ftp time are horrible.  The only thing I change is
  45. the compression and error correction settings on the modem (one end
  46. only the other end autodetects).  BTW 200mSec is about the order of my
  47. ping times so I wonder if that has anything to do with it.
