- I have some questions about mmap() on Ultrix 4.2. According to the
- doc it only works on character devices, not files.
-
- Is this really true?
-
- Do more recent versions of Ultrix let you mmap() a file?
-
- Is the restriction due to some feature of the MIPS or VAX architecture?
-
- Is there a public domain implementation of a more complete mmap()?
-
- any thoughts on the matter, or references to early discussion would
- be appreciated. All I could find was basically the same question
- a while back and no followups.
-
- thanks!
