  12. I have some questions about mmap() on Ultrix 4.2.  According to the
  13. doc it only works on character devices, not files.

  15. Is this really true?

  17. Do more recent versions of Ultrix let you mmap() a file?

  19. Is the restriction due to some feature of the MIPS or VAX architecture?
  20.  
  21. Is there a public domain implementation of a more complete mmap()?

  23. any thoughts on the matter, or references to early discussion would
  24. be appreciated.  All I could find was basically the same question
  25. a while back and no followups.
