  11. Hi,
  12.     I am trying to set up a modem on the serial port of my DECStation 5000/
  13. 20, so that I can dial into it.  After some playing around I have set it up 
  14. so that the modem answers the phone and a connection is established.  
  15. However I do not get a login prompt.  Then if I use kermit on the DS 5000 to 
  16. talk to /dev/ttyd0, set the speed and connect, I can exchange data over the 
  17. dial up link.  When I have done that, I then get a Login prompt on the 
  18. remote terminal!

  20. the entry in /etc/ttys is :-

  22. ttyd0 "getty 8bit.2400" dialup on modem
  23.  
  24. The connection to the modem (Netcomm Pocket FaxModem 24) is via a 25-way 
  25. straight through cable.

  27. Any hints on getting this working would be greatly appreciated.
