- Hi,
- I am trying to set up a modem on the serial port of my DECStation 5000/
- 20, so that I can dial into it. After some playing around I have set it up
- so that the modem answers the phone and a connection is established.
- However I do not get a login prompt. Then if I use kermit on the DS 5000 to
- talk to /dev/ttyd0, set the speed and connect, I can exchange data over the
- dial up link. When I have done that, I then get a Login prompt on the
- remote terminal!
-
- the entry in /etc/ttys is :-
-
- ttyd0 "getty 8bit.2400" dialup on modem
-
- The connection to the modem (Netcomm Pocket FaxModem 24) is via a 25-way
- straight through cable.
-
- Any hints on getting this working would be greatly appreciated.
-
-
- Yours in utter frustration,
-
- Ian.
