  12. I found the Ultrix release notes for 4.3 ambiguous on the
  13. issue of whether the LAT/printing problems still exist.
  14. In Ultrix 4.2 (risc/vax) these seemed to involve, among
  15. other patches, new lpd, tty.o, and lta.o files.  These
  16. would correct problems like the daemon dying and leaving
  17. the connection (lpc -p tty??  --> showed a connection),
  18. preventing the next print job and requiring: lpc -h tty??
  19. and a restarting of the daemon.

  21. That's all old news.  In the risc 4.2a patch kit, not 
  22. all of the above files were included (April '92), and
  23. the 4.2a machine has had intermittent problems, while
  24. the VAX 4.2 machine seems relatively stable.

  26. So does anyone know what the _real_ status of 4.3 is
  27. with regard to this (incredibly robust) problem?
  28. Information on the status of 4.2a would also be 
  29. appreciated.
