- I found the Ultrix release notes for 4.3 ambiguous on the
- issue of whether the LAT/printing problems still exist.
- In Ultrix 4.2 (risc/vax) these seemed to involve, among
- other patches, new lpd, tty.o, and lta.o files. These
- would correct problems like the daemon dying and leaving
- the connection (lpc -p tty?? --> showed a connection),
- preventing the next print job and requiring: lpc -h tty??
- and a restarting of the daemon.
-
- That's all old news. In the risc 4.2a patch kit, not
- all of the above files were included (April '92), and
- the 4.2a machine has had intermittent problems, while
- the VAX 4.2 machine seems relatively stable.
-
- So does anyone know what the _real_ status of 4.3 is
- with regard to this (incredibly robust) problem?
- Information on the status of 4.2a would also be
- appreciated.
