- The rule of caveat emptor applies to ALL software. Buy from someone like
- Egghead that lets you take it back if you don't like it. The same applies
- to mail order.
-
- I'm suprised that people buy software for "futures". There are a lot of lying
- scum out there selling things they have no intention of delivering. Sometimes,
- even honest companies can't deliver what they promised.
-
- You should buy software for what it does for you here and now. Not for any of
- that "strategic roadmap" diarrhea that comes from the mouths of lying Liberal
- Arts Marketing Slime. I've had to relearn this lesson so many times. I suspect
- others have, also.
-
- Now, to make this diatribe at least somewhat relevant to the subject line.
-
- You should buy ISC Unix 3.2 NOW for what it does for you NOW. Buy svr4 Unixes
- for what they do for you NOW. If you think you want Solaris, then wait till
- SunSoft delivers it instead of buying something with the idea of upgrading.
-
- My sympathies to those who got screwed on Intel/ISC svr4. Don't repeat the same
- mistake by buying into vaporware again.
