  10. Request any information on the availability of source code
  11. for traditional Xenix utilities "dtype" and "pstat".  Target
  12. platform is AT&T 3B2, System V, 3.2.3, CISC processor.
  13. However, we'd like to know about the code even if it hasn't
  14. seen a 3B2.  (We know life is good for those who haven't seen
  15. a 3B2...but that is neither here nor anywhere.)

  18. Secondly, anyone with pointers to references on the function
  19. "nlist" under System V would be appreciated.  We're trying to
  20. use that function to traverse memory locations which would provide
  21. status information on files.  We have a customer who is CONVINCED
  22. that we can use it to build an alternative to System V "crash"
  23. and in lieu of "fsck" for a file system integrity check.  
  24. The kind of thing he wants us to try and produce is a way to defrag
  25. a file system while the systems is running in multi-user....so we need
  26. to invent graceful ways of check to see if files are busy, and offer 
  27. them a chance to close gracefully.

  30. on WHERE our customer gets the stuff that gets him to that frame
  31. of mind!  In fact we don't want to know where he gets it!
