- I have the new (?) syslog, with the levels and facilities scheme. I added
- local7 level to /etc/syslogd.conf some days ago, then sent kill -HUP to
- syslogd and all went well. Today I added local6, and syslogd answered with
- a beautiful core dump :-( to kill -HUP.
-
- I ran it with -d and I noticed it crashed after reading the local6 part of
- the configuration. Well, this seems obvious, but what is not that obvious is
- that why didn't it crashed with local7 in the first place... If I put local7
- before local6 it only crashes with local6. With local6 before, it won't read
- local7 stuff...
-
- I gave local6 the same configuration as local7 (i.e. same log files), but there
- was no change.
-
- Does anyone have any idea of what is going on?
-
- I'm on a NeXT, if that's important...
-
- Thanks,
-
